Spotify Clips
Bringing creator video into Spotify—defining a new promotional tool for creators while protecting the listener experience.
I like turning messy product spaces into experiences that feel clear, useful, and thoughtfully made.
Bringing creator video into Spotify—defining a new promotional tool for creators while protecting the listener experience.
Exploring where generative AI can reduce operational work in the podcast creation workflow without getting in the way of creativity.
Making algorithmic promotion understandable to artists—and designing how campaign value and performance are communicated.
Exploring a new way for creators to communicate directly with fans beyond episodic content and Comments.
Off-screen, I teach yoga, chase good hikes, and bake with delusions of Claire Saffitz-level Gourmet Makes competence.
I’m a product designer who likes problems with a lot of moving parts: unclear product models, competing user needs, new technology, and systems that need to work across multiple surfaces.
My approach is equal parts strategic and hands-on. I like framing the problem, finding the useful signal, and then staying close enough to the work to make the final experience feel considered.
A new way for creators to promote their work through short-form video, designed across both creator and consumer surfaces.
Spotify wanted to give podcast creators more ways to promote and extend the reach of their episodes. Short-form video was familiar elsewhere, but its role inside a listening-first product was still undefined.
I led creator-side product design for Clips, including research, upload workflows, creator communication, and analytics. I partnered with adjacent consumer designers to define how Clips surfaced to listeners.
SPOTIFY FOR CREATORS

CONSUMER PLATFORM

Clips crossed organizational and product boundaries. Creator needs around publishing, promotion, and performance had to connect cleanly with a consumer experience that remained intentional and useful.
Exploring where generative AI can reduce operational work in the podcast creation workflow without getting in the way of creativity.
Where should AI assist creators without taking over the parts of the workflow they consider creative?
I led research and concept testing for generative features in Spotify for Creators, including chapters and transcripts, with a focus on creator sentiment and workflow value.

Providing creators with auto-generated tools like transcripts and chapters.

A curated sequence showing setup, contextual inputs, configuration, and the final listening experience.
Creators were generally positive toward AI features that reduced logistical work. The strongest value was in making publishing and enhancement workflows faster while preserving creator control.
Making a new kind of algorithmic promotion understandable—and useful—to artists and labels.
Discovery Mode allowed artists and labels to signal tracks that mattered to them so Spotify recommendation systems could consider artist intent alongside listener goals.
Traditional advertising metrics like impressions, click-through rate, and direct conversions did not map cleanly to Discovery Mode. The team needed a different way to communicate value and performance.

CONSUMER EXPERIENCE

ARTIST REPORTING SYSTEM

I worked with product, data science, and engineering to define how campaign performance should be communicated and how reporting could evolve toward audience development rather than only streaming metrics.
Pilot customers converted to paying customers, customers asked for richer metrics, and the reporting flow evolved toward automated reporting and new audience-development measures.
Exploring a direct communication channel between creators and their audiences on Spotify.
With Comments creating new momentum around creator–fan interaction, we explored how creators could communicate directly with audiences beyond episodic content.
Posts needed to create new value without simply duplicating Comments or turning Spotify into another generic social feed.
CONSUMER EXPERIENCE

CREATOR POST EXPERIENCE

I led the conception of the creator-side Posts experience and helped define the product direction and differentiation from Comments.
Company priorities shifted before development, but the work established a direction for deeper creator–fan engagement that remains strategically relevant.
